Looking for a nice, affordable Italian restauraunt central New Orleans.?

Friday, June 13th, 2008

This is for our 29th anniversary dinner, so would like a place with some ambience. We will be staying in the Quarter.

My favorite recently reopened after an extended break after the storm and its still great. Noth the cheapest option but great for a special occasion.
Maximos Italian Grill
1117 Decatur St
New Orleans, LA 70116

This place would be fun, they have opera singing waiters and the food is good.

Another option is
Bacco Restaurant

Italian delicacies are crafted with unique, luxurious ingredients at this romantic eatery.

Many people also really enjoy Irenes. To be honest its not my favorite but its always been popular.
Irene’s Cuisine
539 Saint Philip St , New Orleans , LA , 70116-3322
Cozy, romantic Quarter spot packs in adoring locals with a menu of Italian influences paired with hints of southern France.

The Napoleon House restaurant is at 500 Chartres Street in the FQ, and has a menu of great local dishes that are influenced by Italian style-cooking: http://www.napoleonhouse.com/

It isn’t specifically Italian, but the Palm Court restaurant is very nice, has moderate prices, and traditional live jazz starting at 8:00pm: 1204 Decatur Street in the French Quarter, tel 504-525-0200 (reservations are important and they are not open every day). The Palm Court is closed from about July 25th to about September 25th each year.

Tujaques Restaurant, at 823 Decatur Street in the French Quarter, is very traditional and has moderate prices: http://www.tujaguesrestaurant.com/

Why is it called a hamburger….?

Thursday, June 5th, 2008

if there’s no ham in it???

because the patties were first made & served in Hamburg, Germany…when the meat patty came to the US someone, supposedly some guy in New York, coined the term Hamburger since it came from Hamburg, Germany

……..

The roots of it deal with the city of Hamburg, o’ course

It is really beef and buns, but it developed in hamburg Germany, same thing with buffalo wings just spicy chicken from buffalo new york

……..

apparently it was named after the Earl of Hamburg in England who was such a prolific gambler that he told his servant one day to put the meat inbetween 2 slices of bread so he could hold his food in one hand and have the other one free, and voila!

Where to eat out in Kolkata in my first trip?

Monday, August 6th, 2007

If looking for authentic Bengali cuisine then you must visit New Market area. Kolkata has some great resturants, which you may like to visit. Banzara, Dynasty, Girnaar, and Corner Café are some of the best resturants the city has. You can bet on Mainland China too, though it’s a bit expensive. You may also try out various “chaat pakodi” stalls around the city.
